The Weight of Unfinished Races
Why do we feel the need to pursue that which is already fleeing? There is a peculiar human impulse to chase the horizon, to run after the wind, or to follow the path of creatures that have no intention of being caught. Perhaps we do this not because we expect to reach a destination, but because the act of running makes us feel tethered to the living world. We are all, in some sense, children sprinting across an open field, desperate to touch the hem of a moment before it dissolves into the distance. We mistake the chase for purpose, forgetting that the geese do not care if they are followed, and the field does not remember the rhythm of our feet. We are merely passing through, leaving behind only the faint impression of our own urgency. If we stopped running, would we finally see where we are, or would we simply vanish into the silence of the landscape?

Shahnaz Parvin has captured this fleeting spirit in her work titled Chasing Geese. It serves as a gentle reminder of how we spend our days pursuing things that are always just a few steps ahead of us. Does this image stir a memory of a race you once ran?
