The Weight of Enough

I was at the grocery store this morning, staring at a shelf of cereal, trying to decide if I needed one box or two. It sounds silly, but I stood there for a long time, weighing the cost of having too much against the fear of running out. We are so often taught to gather, to hoard, to prepare for a future that might never arrive. We carry extra bags, extra plans, and extra worries, thinking that more will somehow make us safer. But then I watched a small bird outside the window struggle with a bit too much in its beak, eventually dropping what it couldn’t manage. It didn’t seem bothered by the loss. It just let go of what it didn’t need and kept moving. It made me wonder why we find it so hard to distinguish between what sustains us and what just weighs us down. When was the last time you felt truly light because you decided to leave something behind?

Double Trouble by Tamal Debnath

Tamal Debnath has captured this exact feeling of excess and release in his image titled Double Trouble. It is a striking reminder of how nature handles the burden of having too much. Does this scene make you think of anything you might be holding onto unnecessarily?
