The Stillness Within the Storm
Can a person truly exist in two worlds at once, or are we merely ghosts haunting the edges of our own reality? We move through the marketplace of life, surrounded by the clamor of commerce, the weight of expectations, and the relentless ticking of the clock. We are taught that to be present is to engage, to touch, to consume. Yet, there is a quiet power in the act of passing through without being touched by the dust of the road. It is a paradox of the human spirit: to be physically tethered to the earth, surrounded by the noise of the mundane, while maintaining an internal silence that remains untouched by the chaos. Perhaps we are not meant to conquer the noise, but to carry our own sanctuary within us, a private geography that no amount of external movement can disturb. If the world is a river, are we the water, or are we the stone that watches the current go by?

Ryszard Wierzbicki has captured this delicate balance in his beautiful image titled Monks in the Market. It serves as a gentle reminder that peace is often found in the most unexpected places. Does this image make you feel more grounded in the present moment?
