The Stillness Within the Rush

There is a rhythm to the city that demands we move in time with its pulse. We are taught to walk with purpose, to keep our eyes fixed on the destination, and to treat the sidewalk as a bridge to somewhere else. Yet, there are those who have learned the secret of the stone in the river. They do not fight the current; they simply exist within it, anchored by a quiet grace that the rushing world cannot touch. To sit while the world runs is an act of profound rebellion. It is a way of saying that the present moment is enough, that the sun warming one’s skin is more important than the next appointment or the distant roar of traffic. In that pause, the soul finds its breath again. We are not meant to be mere shadows passing through the light, but witnesses to the simple, unhurried truth of being alive.

Junction by Keith Goldstein

Keith Goldstein has captured this beautiful, meditative grace in his photograph titled Junction. It reminds me that even in the heart of the loudest city, one can find a sanctuary of stillness. May we all find such a place to rest our hearts today.
