The River of Becoming

Seneca once remarked that life is like a river, always in motion, never the same water flowing past the same bank. We often mistake the river for the stones it carries, focusing on the debris of our daily errands rather than the relentless, fluid energy that defines our existence. We are obsessed with the destination, forgetting that the movement itself is the only thing we truly possess. To stand still in a world that demands constant transit is a radical act of self-possession. We fear the blur of the passing hours, yet it is only within that blur that the true shape of our journey reveals itself. If we could learn to see the motion not as a disruption, but as the very texture of our being, perhaps we would stop trying to anchor ourselves to things that are already drifting toward the sea. What remains when the noise of the transit finally fades into the dark?
