The Quietest Invitation
I spent twenty minutes this morning trying to find my keys, tearing through the hallway table and checking the pockets of every coat I own. I was frantic, my mind already halfway to the office, until I finally stopped. I took a breath and looked down at the floor. There, in the corner, was a small, dried petal that had fallen from a bouquet weeks ago. It was curled and brown, yet it held a strange, quiet dignity. I realized then how much I miss when I am moving too fast. We spend our lives looking for the big things—the keys, the deadlines, the next milestone—while the world around us is busy offering up small, intricate wonders that don’t ask for anything at all. It is a humbling thing to realize that the most important parts of our day might be the ones we are currently walking right past. What would happen if we stopped to look at the things we usually ignore?

Tisha Clinkenbeard has captured this exact feeling of stillness in her beautiful image titled Daisy, Daisy. It reminds me that there is so much grace waiting for us if we only slow down enough to see it. Does this image make you want to pause for a moment today?
