Home Reflections The Quiet Between Dips

The Quiet Between Dips

I spent this morning trying to fix a leaky faucet in the kitchen. I kept turning the wrench, waiting for the dripping to stop, but the rhythm remained—a steady, persistent beat against the metal sink. Eventually, I just stopped. I sat on the floor, wiped the water from my hands, and listened. It occurred to me then how much of our lives are spent trying to silence the background noise, to fix the things that don’t quite fit. We are so busy managing the flow of our days that we rarely allow ourselves to just sit in the stillness that exists between the drops. There is a specific kind of peace in letting go of the tools, in simply watching the light shift across the floorboards while the world keeps ticking on without our intervention. We don’t always need to be the ones in control of the current. Sometimes, it is enough to just be near the water and let the silence settle in.

Serenity by the Pool by Suraj Krishnamurthy Cheemangala

Suraj Krishnamurthy Cheemangala has captured this exact feeling of stillness in the image titled Serenity by the Pool. It reminds me that even in the middle of a busy trip, there is always a corner waiting for us to pause. Does this image make you want to stop what you are doing and just breathe for a moment?
