The Language of a Glance
I often find myself standing at the edge of a crowded market in Lisbon or tucked into a quiet alleyway in Istanbul, watching how people navigate the invisible borders between strangers. We carry so much armor—the weight of our origins, the habits of our upbringing, the protective silence we wrap around ourselves like a coat. Yet, there is always a crack in that armor. It happens in the split second before a smile breaks, when the eyes widen with a sudden, unscripted interest. It is a fragile bridge built not of words, but of pure, unadulterated curiosity. We are all searching for a way to be seen without having to explain ourselves, hoping that someone else will recognize the human pulse beneath the surface. If we stop moving long enough to offer a gesture, no matter how small, does the world become a little less foreign? Or are we simply finding mirrors in the faces of those we were never meant to meet?

Ryszard Wierzbicki has taken this beautiful image titled Curiosity2, which captures that exact moment of connection. Does this gaze remind you of a time you were truly seen by a stranger?
