The Art of Waiting
I spent twenty minutes this morning watching a spider try to cross the hallway. It would take a few steps, pause, and then retreat, as if it were measuring the distance against some invisible map only it could see. I found myself holding my breath, wanting to nudge it along, to tell it that the other side was safe. But it didn’t need my help. It was moving at its own pace, guided by a rhythm that had nothing to do with my morning schedule or my need for efficiency. We spend so much of our lives rushing toward the next thing, convinced that speed is the only way to arrive. Yet, there is a quiet power in simply being where you are, moving across the terrain of your own life without apology. Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is just stand still and let the world unfold in its own time. What is the last thing you watched that taught you the value of patience?

Suraj Krishnamurthy Cheemangala has captured this beautiful sense of stillness in his image titled Perfect Timing, Perfect Path! It reminds me that even in the vastness of the wild, there is a deliberate grace to every movement. Does this image make you want to slow down your own pace today?
