Some countries have streets full of stray cats. Nepal is full of dogs who don’t seem to have an owner. When I asked the locals about this, they would say dogs do have owners but are mostly cared for by the whole community anyway.
Taken on Luxor’s west bank, the baby girl looks inquisitively at me and my camera. It’s possibly the first time she has seen such a pale complexion and high-tech equipment. She is surrounded by dirt and dilapidated buildings – a place rarely visited by the hordes of tourists that flock to Egypt.
