When Texture Tells You a Story

Chatuchak weekend market, in northern Bangkok, is the biggest flea market in Southeast Asia. It has over 15,000 stalls, selling all kinds of wonders, ranging from precious antiques to bric-a-brac items. The flea market has over 200,000 visitors each day.

The place is like a giant maze, and it is quite easy to get oneself lost, but getting lost in there is actually one of the best things that could happen to you. You can walk down the narrow alleys and discover mountains of statues and fabrics of all kinds.

As it is an indoor market, the atmosphere is somber and surprisingly quiet. When I stumbled upon this fabric shop, I was mesmerized by the colors of these textiles. However, capturing the moment was not an easy task. The constricted alley was over-crowded, and the light fairly dim.

Let us now introduce you to the art of revealing texture with skill.
