Although I’d rather not run into an jellies while swimming, I am completely mesmerized by them at an aquarium. I really could watch them float around for hours, and am fascinated by all of the various colors and details the different varieties feature. This photo will most certainly look familiar to anyone who has had the opportunity to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, in Monterey, CA. They have one of the largest live jelly collections in the country, and feature an enormous tank filled with these stunning Pacific Sea Nettles.

While the Goldstripe Maroon Clownfish (premnas biaculeatus) is naturally found in Sumatra, this one was photographed in my family’s home aquarium in our living room. Named “Sashimi”, she was the first addition to our saltwater tank several years ago. Although this variety of clownfish is considered to be one of the most aggressive of the species, Sashimi coexists peacefully with the other inhabitants of our tank. The Goldstripe Maroon Clownfish is also known to rearrange items in the tank to their liking, which Sashimi does on a regular basis making her one of the most entertaining fish in the tank to watch.

Photographer: Sahil Lodha (Mumbai City, India)
Presently, a 3nd year Law Student, Sahil developed an interest in photography 3 years back after enrolling himself for a photography course, on instinct. During the course, he was mesmerized to see images develop in the darkroom & the joy to see his own images develop gave him tremendous creative satisfaction. After the course, he started learning under the guidance of a professional photographer during which he gained an insight into the finer aspects of photography. As time passed, he came to realize the visual possibilities & the stimulation it offered to his imagination. Since then, it has become an obsession, leading him to take a break from his academics for an entire year just to travel & explore different cultures. He has been fortunate enough to have his pictures published in various leading Indian photography magazines, a few International magazines & to exhibit them at a few Major Indian cities. He have been fortunate enough to win the first & second prize at the Prestigious Asia without Borders photography competition held at Singapore by Asian Geographic. He wishes to get a degree in photography on completion of his bachelors in law & pursue travel photography & explore Wedding,Fashion & Documentary Photography further.
Photography, for him is simply an extension of the natural impulse to explore the larger world.

They call this the living fossil. It is the only animal which has been remained unchanged for the last 400 years. I found it in New York Aquarium. The beautiful print on shell and its mysterious gesture caught my eyes and I took its photo. According to Marine Science Today, a publication of Ocean Lines LLC, “During prehistoric times, there were about 10,000 different species of nautilus, but only a small handful are known to survive today. Nautilus can nowadays only be found in the Indo-Pacific, where they inhabit the slopes of the coral reefs. They are the only cephalopods with an external smooth thin shell, matte white on the outside and mother of pearl inside, that is pressure resistant to a depth of about 2600 feet (800 m), although they live in a depth of only 1000 feet”
