]]> It was cold day in April, 2012 when we were walking in the morning by Lviv streets. To warm up, we dropped into one street cafe (Gloria Jean’s Coffees), where I turned the camera up to the ceiling and made this photograph. Mirrors attached to the ceiling were framed in golden painted wood, and picture looked like it was a museum. I didn’t have tripod with me, so used high ISO setting. Interesting to mention, but the place was prohibited to photograph in. Sorry. By the way, Lviv is located in the western part of Ukraine and is famous for its coffee. Welcome to enjoy it!

Sergiy’s first experience was with his grandfather’s camera (made in 1936), and while he was studying in school he started mode in-depth learning of photography, including dark room processing, shooting on color films, etc. His first own camera (shared with his sister) was Smena-8M, which was very popular in Soviet Union as basic and very affordable camera for children. In upper class his mother gave him a gift – Zenit-12SD, which was his first real film DSLR and he enjoyed it for many years. Later on, while being on business trip in Canada, he bought Minolta with set of lenses, which was far more advanced one. Large part of his film photo collection was made with it. Sergiy was quite skeptical towards digital photography at the beginning, and switched completely to digital workflow by late 90’s until early 2000. About 7 years ago he graduated from the professional photography course in the Kyiv School of Photography, and later on, continued to study (distance learning course of professional photography) in New York Institute of Photography. He also attended number of training courses in different other schools and on top of it, learn new interesting areas online. He did his first photo exhibition in April, 2011, which was named “Sikkim. Beginning” and was devoted to his trekking in Himalaya, Sikkim, India, in 2010.

Sergiy’s favorite type of photography is travel and landscape; however he likes reportage as well. He does devote significant portion of his time to internal growth and development, which to his strong opinion, is the most important part of any creative human. He is trying to use photography as means to share his deep love to the world, to other people and nature, and pass warmth of his heart to them.

]]> It was early Saturday morning in the beginning of November, when I did a photo work by the streets of my native city. I met first sun light at the bank of Dnieper River, but later on decided to climb up the Volodymirska Gorka, hill in the center of Kyiv, famous by the monument of St. Volodymyr. The sunrise was trying to break through the early morning fog, making mysterious look of the park and surroundings. The nature was still, however full of songs of early birds. I included benches into the frame to symbolize purity of the morning and silence. Left to the bench is a stone monument – symbol of ancient time passing by, giving you another great reason to stop and think of your life…

]]> “Arches Path” is well known road from the main Uspensky Cathedral to saint caves. I took the shot from low-angle tripod, heading upwards the hill to the arches direction. It took a while to wait for the moment when it was not crowded, as I wanted path to be almost empty, in order to make main focus onto drama of coexistence of arches and the stony dark road. The light on the wall created interesting effect reflecting from the shapes of arches, and from the distance you can see it as lotus flower leaves growing from the person on the street.

The view is on the road intersection at Osokorki district (highway to Borispil airport) and panorama of the right bank of Dnieper river. On the left side of the photo there is Southern Bridge in the green light. The road has busy traffic till late night, as it connects downtown with the international airport. Kyiv, Ukraine, July 2010. I used tripod and wide lense to capture panorama of evening lights with longer exposure.

Not used to this type of weather and without the proper protection (snow came early), my fingers almost froze and I came close to hypothermia. ]]> Near Kramatorsk (Donetsk, Ukraine) is a wonderful natural sights: a regional landscape park “Kramatorsk”. Its area is very large, but are noteworthy chalk cliffs in the village Belokuzminovka that against the background of forest-steppe landscape look particularly fascinating. The white chalk cliffs that rise above the steppe, were formed in the era of the Mesozoic period of unconsolidated marine sediments of an ancient sea. Denudation of the Cretaceous rock rises to a height of more than 25 meters. On the eastern outskirts of the mountain is worth baring sword. Age Chalk Mountain – 90 million years. At the foot of the mountain are many other smaller rocks, potholes, large and small caves. Shepherds there often graze cows. One evening in 2006, I managed to take just such a picture.
