Although this photograph was taken in Lausanne, Switzerland, it could have been taken almost anywhere. But, sometimes even commonplace items reveal something hidden upon close examination. In this case, what caught my eye were the beautiful patterns and gradual transitions in density and tone embedded in the dandelion. You can almost envision blowing it and seeing the individual components get carried away by the wind…

This photograph was taken on the way to “jungfrau”!! Its a german word which means virgin. It is one of the main summits in the Bernese Alps, situated between the cantons of Valais and Bern in Switzerland. The train into the mountain leaves from Kleine Scheidegg, which can be reached by trains from Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen via Wengen. Before arriving at the Jungfraujoch, it stops for a few minutes at two other stations, Eigerwand and Eismeer, where passengers can see through the holes excavated from the mountain. This magnificent journey from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch takes approximately 50 minutes including the stops; the downhill return journey taking only 35 minutes.

I found this nice flower during a short walk around White Lake at Bernin a Pass, in Switzerland close the Italian border. I was practically at the end of the walk when I have noticed it. Unfortunately I was without tripod since broken and even the wind was increasing. I found the best position to limit as much as possible the camera shake. I have selected a wide aperture to get a right DOF effect and even in order to avoid possibility of blurring.
