It seems easy to make an `interesting’ macro photograph as the subject is usually something hardly observed by our naked eyes. However, creating a macro shot that keeps viewer’s eyes on it for some moments is rather difficult. In a close-up shot, I often look for a good subject to be in focus, and equally important, search for an interesting background to complete the frame. I guess this shot is one good example of those.

Taken in the blistering afternoon sun during a photowalk where I found this subject ‘hiding’ behind the blue canvas. This was a moment I will seldom come across. The subject was actually a construction worker doing maintenance work at the entrance a car-park. The blue screen was to block debris from the walkway beside it. I found this glorious moment as the sun was directly behind him which cast a shadow on the screen.

Singapore is turning into a metropolitan state sooner than expected. This photo was captured at the Esplanade. From the Esplanade Bay, you can see what the photo shows. The building on the left features the newly built Marina Bay Sands – an integrated resorts. The building on the right of the picture is one of Singapore’s oldest building, which is the Fullerton Hotel. In between are the Central Business District of Singapore. This photo was recently taken after the closing ceremony of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games held here. Hence, that explains the magnificent strobe lights on top of the buildings.
