This is the view of Mt. Matutum near from the subdivision where i live in, it’s been months that i long to shoot this volcano. Matutum is located in the province of South Cotabato, on the island of Mindanao, in the south of the Philippines. It is 15 km north of Polomolok, and about 30 km north-northwest of General Santos City.

This photo was taken last June 4, 2011. We are going to Balisong Elementary School at Lemblisong, Bgry. Kablon, South Cotabato, to distribute light school supply materials, those two in motorcyle is our guide. It was a part of Black Pencil Project, our goal is to change the world, one pencil at a time, to know more about the project you can visit blackpencilproject.org. We are on a multicab (smal pick-up truck) when i saw this frame, the leading effect of the road caught my attention, a perfect setup for our weekly theme assignment with my other half, the theme is “journey”.

This photo was taken outside Binondo Church, Manila last July 4, 2009. Binondo church was the last destination of our photowalk together with my photog buddies, after checking the interior of the church i spotted this boy outside and asked him if I can take his photo, he simply smile and pose, and I think that was a yes and I quickly take a snap.

This photo was taken in Koronadal City, last april 2010, me and my buddy would like to try our luck to capture a great sunset, and yes we are very lucky. I saw these two kids flying a kite together, i quickly position my self and take a quick snap, luckily they didn’t notice me.

The kids were enjoying the light school materials distributed by BPP (http://www.BlackPencilProject.org), after they receive their kit, we ask them to draw something on the first page of their notebook, i took a overhead shot, this is one of my favorite shot on that trip.

I took this shot on a resort near lake sebu, I woke up around 6am to look for something interesting to capture, it was around 7am when i saw these kids approaching towards where I was, I positioned my self and patiently wait for them and press the shutter when they were in the frame where i wanted them to be.

When Jim Alonzo had his first Instamatic camera (Olympus) in college, he never knew that it is going to be one of his passion. He set up a small studio and took pictures of his sisters and when he saw the photos he had taken, he said to himself “I think I’m loving this.” It’s been a year since he bought his own DSLR. His favorite subjects to photograph are kids and landscapes. he got no formal training, but he believes that, maybe someday he will have the chance to meet the famous photographers around the world and have the chance to work with them.
