A Wagasa, is a traditional Japanese umbrellas. It is made of bamboo and Washi, a Japanese paper. It is delicately collapsible inward with its elaborate open-close movement. The Wagasa I captured here is just one kind of the hundreds of verities they have in Japan. Once you see the verities of colors and designs they have, I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with them. This photograph was captured in November 25, 2010.

Photographer:Jose Manuel Renteria Cobos (Osaka, Japan)
Jose Renteria born in Veracruz in december 17th 1973, raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently living in Japan. He is a professional airline pilot and photography is his second professional priority, He has a professional photography Diploma and his is an everyday learner, aviation photography is his favorite topic followed by action, street, and landscape, except studio and multi flash photo. He founded in Japan that it is a very photogenic country (if not the most) He goes to every airport available to shoot aviation, travel to places to capture natute and colors, walk the streets in the night to capture the city lights and he always has a camera in my bag. He started photography in 2000 with a Canon rebel SLR but my real start was when I got his first DSLR, a PENTAX K10D, this camera changed his life. He is still a Pentax user and he will always be. Photography is not a business to him, it´s a way to play with time and space, people and things, it´s his escape from daily routine and an addiction with no harm. He always has goals and my next one is to start mastering portratit and strobist technique.
They are Emiliano and Nicolás, they share parents a house and a life as well as many other things, this day a shark was going to show up and they were just waiting anxious for it, the aquarium was dark and a ray of sunlight illuninated the pool, I decided to make the classic underwater silohuette with only my boys in the frame. The title was because I wanted them to see themselves form my point of view and to have that memories for ever.

Blue Impulse Japan Self Defense aerobatic team performing the waterfall maneuver at Matsushima Airbase (which was swept by the Tsunami in march 11) during the 50th anniversary of the team. Airshows are performed all year long along Japan airbases except for the rainy season in june and july, a great place to be to enjoy a different environment with lots of noise, food and drinks. You can see a big amount of gear and lenses all over like you´ve never seen before, Japanese photographers always have the most advanced and impressive stuff during airshows.

I travelled to a very special place, named “Naruko” in north east Japan, it is considered one of the top 5 autumn best landscapes in the world, the colors there are intense and gorgeous, and you can feel the magic of the season combined with a special scent of woods, thousands of photographers join to see and capture this phenomenomenon that last only about on week in the best point of colors. This picture in particular reflects a nostalgic mood transmitted by the “momiji” trees before the rain comes and sweep the leaves away.

In early January this new year I was lucky to travel to Niseko, Japan and their fresh power. I had never skied in Japan but I had only heard good things so I was pretty excited. On the way over we were delayed trying to land because there was too much snow on the runway – only a good thing when your on a sky holiday! The mountain had a huge variety of slopes and one of the days myself and my brother headed into their park. This is a photo of my brother pulling a “Truck Driver” over one of their jumps. I wish I had the flexibility to achieve this.

Photographer: Benjamin Lee (Hong Kong)
Born in Tokyo, raised in Hong Kong and with the annual trip back to the UK in the summer Benjamin Lee was instilled with a desire to travel from an early age. Early adventures included locations both East and West and when, at 21 he received a DSLR he got cracking on recording his own exploits.
He has always considered himself as a visual learner with a good memory for places and events and he thoroughly enjoy traveling and experiencing new locations. Whenever he look through the lens he is always looking to capture the scene as he experiences it.
He is currently living in Hong Kong however he spends a fair amount of time working in different locations around Asia and Europe. I would classify himself as an observant photographer (if there’s such a category) because he is always trying to capture what he sees around him, whether it’s landscapes, urban landscapes or candid street shots.
