“It was the first day of Eid Al Fitr and the beach was way too crowded. At the end of the day and after a beautiful sunset, people left and headed back home when these two friends were wondering around looking for something… It was low tide and one of them went deep inside while his friend waited and waited. Eventually he went too and joined him in his quest for the lost item… But they never seemed to found anything and headed back home, and the beach turned silent again as if no one ever been there today”

One of the stages determines an old lady to sit there and stir the beans till they are fully roasted, she keeps on circulating the beans in the big pan for at least 60 minutes!!… The best part was the smell of the beans, and this photo was meant to give the aroma feeling of such tasty coffee”.

Tanah Lot – the most photographed location in Bali – is an ancient temple situated on an large rock just off the shore of Tabanan. In addition to being a tourist trap, the temple also is a pilgrimage location for thousands of locals who flock to the site every day. This leads to one of the most shocking scenes I have encountered in my travels: the narrow street filled with shops and street vendors all packed in like sardines leading up to the temple.

The town of Toya Bungah is a popular tourist destination in Bali due to its proximity to Mount Batur – an inactive volcano. Despite having erupted dozens of times over the centuries, a community contines to thrive beneath its hollowed out cone and rivers of dried lava.

It was there, in the shadows of Mount Batur, that I stumbled upon a vibrant farming community and row after row of onion fields being tended by women and children. Their simple and calm lifestyle seemed to be a stark contrast to the scores of visitors who flock to the town every year to hike Batur, take a tour and head out the next day.

A picture from a trip to Tengger massif, East Java, Indonesia. Taken from the Hinduâes temple area at the Sand Sea facing the Bromo slope. Part of Tengger massif, Bromo is not the highest peak but arguably the most well known. After taking 30-45 minutes drive from the nearest village through Tengger slope and the Sand Sea to the Hinduaes temple located just at Bromo foothills, riding horses is one option tourist can take to climb up and down the Bromo slope to and from the stairway that will take you to the crater rim of Bromo. Dust kicked by the horses climbing up and down provides the dramatic scene.
