Taken on Luxor’s west bank, the baby girl looks inquisitively at me and my camera. It’s possibly the first time she has seen such a pale complexion and high-tech equipment. She is surrounded by dirt and dilapidated buildings – a place rarely visited by the hordes of tourists that flock to Egypt.

This photo was made in somewhere in the desert between Sudan and Egypt. We drove all day and we decided to stop for the night, just before God had started to paint the sky. Perfect timing to stop, and perfect timing to shot and represent my passions.
