Took this image while on a job as the on-set photographer for a music video when I was studying Digital Design at the Vancouver Film School. We got to that location and before we started any video shooting, I took a few minutes to take some photo’s of the landscape. Vancouver is the most beautiful city in my opinion and living there for a year and a half taught me a lot about landscape photography. Shot with my Canon 7D with a 10-22mm ultra-wide angle lens.

Photographer: Bashar Nabil Alaeddin (Amman, Jordan)
Bashar Nabil Alaeddin is a digital photographer based in Amman, Jordan. He has been to photography since 2003 and lately he has become more specialized in the genre’s of fine art landscapes and food. Although he works in other genre’s as well, he feels he has become more comfortable with genre’s that let him take his time to be meticulous about his photo’s. He wants his photographs to evoke some emotion, to make the audience feel that they need to be in that scene right now, to make them wish they were eating that dish at this moment. He tries to show the world how it looks through his eyes. Alaeddin believes photography is a visual language, a whole essay or speech being spoken with just one image and he hopes that his minimalist style cuts straight to that point.

I was strolling in the garden of Westin Prince Hotel, Toronto, when I spotted these lovely bleeding hearts flower plant. There was breeze and bit of low light which was a challenge for me, however after repeated attempts and some patience I was able to shoot it. I used my 150mm Sigma macro lens to get a great DoF.There were so many of them hanging in a queue, reminded me of my college days when lots of hearts would queue in order to get love, but love is won as this one have won mine.

Photographer: Abhijit Bhowmick (Kolkata, INDIA)
Abhijit had been playing with colors since childhood when painting was his first love, but soon switched to photography when his father gifted him a hotshot camera (modern day point and shoot camera). He first laid his hands on his dad’s Yashica SLR when he was 16 years old and since then had never stopped shooting. Currently he own a Canon 550D, 50mm 1.8 EF and 10-22mm EF-S lens alongwith Olympus E620, 14-42mm Zuiko and 40-150mm Zuiko lens and a Sigma 150mm 2.8 prime macro lens. Photography makes him appreciate small facets of life and to be able to hold on to those moments seems amazing to him. He currently work as a consulting engineer with Cisco Systems and gets ample opportunity to travel different countries. This compliments nicely with his passion for photography and eagerness to know and experience different cultures. He is venturing into a new start up called BackPack and Camera Studio in Kolkata and wish to grow it into an Enterprise providing quality and affordable digital photography solution to anyone who comes within the realms of Digital photography.

Canada Geese glided silently on my favorite pond at the Marthaville Habitat Area located in Southern Ontario, Canada. I rose at about six am to a wonderful fog. I knew I only had minutes to capture this magical place before the fog and mist burned off with the rising sun. Photographer: Sharon Lai (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)
Sharon Lai is a 19 year old sophomore, working towards a Bsc Kinesiology degree. She spends a lot of her time studying and fencing, but always find time to take some pictures and visit other portfolios. She has always admired great photography for the unique and diverse perspectives out there, but ever since she created a Flickr account, her interest has heightened. Sharon don’t own a DSLR but She is hoping in the near future she can capture the world with a Nikon D90. With that said, She always have some sort of camera on her whether it be my Sony Cybershot DCS-W110, Sony Ericsson phone, or even her itouch to capture the moments and beauties of the world. Although her current studies gear her towards a health care or research profession, she has started to contemplate more heavily on pursuing a career in the photography world. Sharon thinks the world is so beautiful and photography simply magnifies how enchanting anything may be. Being a “self-taught” photographer, she has learned to view everything so differently because the world we live in she believes is so cinematic.

Photographer: Kelven Ng (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
As an accountant, getting off the desk and the chair is always a luxury. Excel spreadsheets are only so interesting so taking a photo of just about anything is a bit of a relief. Kelven is lucky however to live in Vancouver, Canada since it gives him so much to take photos of and so many different perspectives to see. Kelven is even luckier now to be living in London, England and to be traveling Europe. In no way is he a professional photographer but he hopes his skills let him capture the memories of every day life and his travels.

The Vancouver seawall is a place that is very well traveled during the sunny days in the summer. But it is also a place that one can appreciate at night time in the winter too. The Lions Gate is not as extravagant as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco but it is part of Vancouver and it is still quite the sight at night time!

Technical Info: Canon EOS 5D Mark II | Exposure: 30sec | Aperture: f/11 | ISO: 400 | Focal Length: 35 mm

As I am semi-retired I have plenty of time to wander the back roads and country lanes in search of photographic subjects. Often I find myself returning to this quiet lane to photograph the seasons and the majestic old shade trees that line the dusty road. I waited for just the right weather and light to capture this photo of the old man of the lane.

Photographer: James L. Brown (Petrolia, Ontario, Canada)
James L. Brown is a neophyte, mostly self taught photographer that strives to bring out the beauty in simple things and subjects. Although he really likes gear, he believes vision is what really matters in photography. He hopes some day to use my photography to help those less fortunate in this world. He is always looking for new members for his KIVA Photographerfriends lending team http://www.kiva.org/team/photographerfriends
