This image was made on an early winter morning hike before sunrise. On this peaceful morning, the cold morning frost had frozen and settled on all the trees and plants. The full moon slipped slowly through the blue dawn sky towards the horizon making way for the warming sun.

Out exploring the Chugach Mountains on a sunny winter day, I was composing the intersecting ridge lines and light variations when the hiker and dogs topped the ridge line. They paused, taking in the vista or perhaps catching their breaths, long enough for me to capture this image.
