Photo of the Day - November 29
This photo was taken from the top of a condo building in downtown Chicago, at dusk, just as the lights were coming on all over the city. I was able to capture both the city lights and the detail with the remaining natural light to highlight the activity in a typical city night. To capture the scene I set the aperture open to get the great depth of field that adds so much dimension to this image.
Title of the photograph: Chicago at Night
Photo of the Day Award Category: Night Photography
Photographer: Lonna Horner (Ann Arbor, MI USA)
Lonna Horner is an award winning architectural student at the University of Michigan who finds unnatural beauty in urban scenes. She enjoys capturing urban scenes with her husband, Chris, when not designing buildings. She is inspired by mid century modern architecture. As far as photography, her goal is to capture the same beauty and essence that we see with our naked eye, creating images with depth and richness. While of course that is unattainable, having this goal in mind drives her to create images that generate an emotional response from the viewer and drives her to continually improve her craft.
