This was shot at the Golden Temple Monastery in Bylakuppe, near Mysore, India. The young monks were training by reading the scriptures. The light shining from the window and the atmosphere gave it an other world feeling. Camera used for this shot was a Leica M6 with 35mm f/1.2 Nokton lens on Kodak Ektar 100 film.

Ashwin Kumar is an amateur photographer interested in traditional film photography, and development techniques. He began shooting with SLRs, strayed to DSLRs, but later returned to his true love of film photography. He enjoys shooting people and the environment around them, photoethnography is the closest term to describe his “style”. He has lived in Singapore, and currently based in Bangalore, India. He current arsenal for shooting people (pun intended) are Leica M rangefinder, Hasselblad, some vintage lenses, and healthy supply of film.
