The season of Spring is associated with New Life and this is exactly what I wanted to portray through this image. Two colorful crocus buds, just about to bloom, breaking through a field of fresh, green grass embodies what Spring is all about – the freshness and newness of life after the bleak and desolate time of winter. A harbinger of brighter, longer, sunnier days to come…

Photography started off as a hobby for Kurien Koshy Yohannan and over time it grew on him – so much so that he now makes a living from it. Though he loves photographing a variety of subjects, he spends most of his time photographing Corporate Events and some of his time photographing Weddings. With whatever free time he has left, he loves getting out and photographing the subjects closest to his heart – Wildlife and Nature.
Crystal Colorado is basically a ghost town 4 miles from Marble Colorado accessible by hiking and jeep tour. After my wife Sheila and I with our friends Barry and Shelly took this jeep tour to arrive in Crystal we were greeted by this old mill. Built in 1893 as a wooden power house to drive an air compressor for a nearby silver mine this building is now on the US registry of historic places. Well worth the harrowing jeep ride but next time I’ll hike in!

Photographer: Steve Hirsch (Columbus,Ohio, USA)
Steve Hirsch grew up with a love of photography, had a darkroom in his basement and photographed throughout high school. He took some time off to get married, raise 3 girls and become an otolaryngologist. Now that the kids have grown he has renewed his interest in his favorite hobby. His other favorite pastime is travel. The two passions go hand-in-hand, travel landscape and wildlife photography. In order to grow as a photographer he has attended workshops in Africa and various locations. He continues to travel all over the world and the United states to capture animals in their natural habitat and photograph beautiful landscapes in all different seasons of the year and various lighting. His artwork adorns the walls of his home, his friends, family and clients homes as well as medical offices. He feels photography is his way to express oneself artistically and connect with people on a very basic level. He enjoys the process of planning and traveling to each unique location, patiently taking the best shot and exploring the best way to display his works of art. He currently lives in Columbus Ohio USA.
Photographer: Ronnie Glover (Gig Harbor, WA, USA)
Photography took a backseat while Ronnie obtained his college degree. After graduation, he purchased his first camera but was unable to produce the images that he saw in his mind. He then took a few continuing education class to learn the technical aspects of the camera and realized there was so much more to learn about photography. So Ronnie enrolled in the professional program at Southeastern Center for the Arts in Atlanta. The school was operated by Jeanne & Neil Chaput de Saintonge, who currently operate Rocky Mountain School of Photography. He spent 14 years living in Alaska and this gave him unbelievable opportunities to experience nature and capture many images. Ronnie also enjoy travel photography and the experience of different cultures. It is his wish that his images will expose others to the beauty of nature and other cultures. He invites everyone to enjoy his gallery and feel free to contact him with any comments.

The snowfall in the winter of 2011 was a record in Colorado which led to a massive runoff in the spring. With my wife Sheila and good friends Barry and Shelly, we set out on this climb of 1 1/2 miles up to Hanging Lakes in Glenwood Colorado. A moderately difficult hike with a significant elevation was well worth the effort as these waterfalls were far better in 2011 than in previous years.

I set out on a morning hike in a storm with camera backpack in tow to try and capture the essence of the red rocks in Sedona Arizona. The storms clouds were strengthening but the colors were becoming more and more vibrant. I set up for this shot and after several minutes was greeted by a double rainbow to photograph as well. Truly worth the early morning hike as the sunrise on the canyon walls was breathtaking.

Photographer: Kurien Koshy Yohannan (Edinburgh, Scotland)
Photography started off as a hobby for Kurien Koshy Yohannan but now it plays a major role in his life – so much so that he plans to slowly start making a living from it. Koshy believes there is so much beauty around us that can be captured; nature is full of beauty waiting for us to capture it, if we have the eye and receptiveness for it. Koshy intends to capture this beauty through his camera lens for all to enjoy and behold. Through his photography he would like people to appreciate the world we live in – the animal and plant life that coexist with us as well as the people and cultures that surround us – and hopes that it may provide a renewed enthusiasm for people to safeguard the beautiful planet that we call Home.
Ice crystals coat the limbs of the tree and fog provides an excellent background for isolating this tree. I liked the delicate beauty that the ice crystals formed on the tree. The fog creates a sense of isolation, loneliness and or mystery. The light rendered as a blue tint in the slide image creates a cool/cold feeling that further creates the “winter” feel.
