The season of Spring is associated with New Life and this is exactly what I wanted to portray through this image. Two colorful crocus buds, just about to bloom, breaking through a field of fresh, green grass embodies what Spring is all about – the freshness and newness of life after the bleak and desolate time of winter. A harbinger of brighter, longer, sunnier days to come…

Crystal Colorado is basically a ghost town 4 miles from Marble Colorado accessible by hiking and jeep tour. After my wife Sheila and I with our friends Barry and Shelly took this jeep tour to arrive in Crystal we were greeted by this old mill. Built in 1893 as a wooden power house to drive an air compressor for a nearby silver mine this building is now on the US registry of historic places. Well worth the harrowing jeep ride but next time I’ll hike in!

Winters are dark and long in Anchorage, Alaska. Summer days bring nearly 20 hours of daylight and fields of wildflowers. In this image, I tried to capture a feeling of the happiness and brightness that the Alaska summer brings after such a winter.

Photography took a backseat while Ronnie obtained his college degree. After graduation, he purchased his first camera but was unable to produce the images that he saw in his mind. He then took a few continuing education class to learn the technical aspects of the camera and realized there was so much more to learn about photography. So Ronnie enrolled in the professional program at Southeastern Center for the Arts in Atlanta. The school was operated by Jeanne & Neil Chaput de Saintonge, who currently operate Rocky Mountain School of Photography. He spent 14 years living in Alaska and this gave him unbelievable opportunities to experience nature and capture many images. Ronnie also enjoy travel photography and the experience of different cultures. It is his wish that his images will expose others to the beauty of nature and other cultures. The snowfall in the winter of 2011 was a record in Colorado which led to a massive runoff in the spring. With my wife Sheila and good friends Barry and Shelly, we set out on this climb of 1 1/2 miles up to Hanging Lakes in Glenwood Colorado. A moderately difficult hike with a significant elevation was well worth the effort as these waterfalls were far better in 2011 than in previous years.

I set out on a morning hike in a storm with camera backpack in tow to try and capture the essence of the red rocks in Sedona Arizona. The storms clouds were strengthening but the colors were becoming more and more vibrant. I set up for this shot and after several minutes was greeted by a double rainbow to photograph as well. Truly worth the early morning hike as the sunrise on the canyon walls was breathtaking.

The first time I experienced a ‘true’ autumn was when I went to UK for further studies. I was immediately struck by the vivid colors of the foliage all around me. Apples, pears and other fruits which had fallen from the trees were scattered all around the football ground and gave me an opportunity to experiment with my recently purchased DSLR.

Captured this shot during a recent stroll. I found this carpet of leaves at the foot of a tree and it was a great opportunity to get a few autumnal shots, including this one, as the bed of leaves was virtually untouched and hence had a nice natural feel to it.

Ice crystals coat the limbs of the tree and fog provides an excellent background for isolating this tree. I liked the delicate beauty that the ice crystals formed on the tree. The fog creates a sense of isolation, loneliness and or mystery. The light rendered as a blue tint in the slide image creates a cool/cold feeling that further creates the “winter” feel.

I was traveling and camping in the Californian Redwoods trying to capture the beauty and amazement of these giant trees. Each day hiking and traveling I was amazed by there size and beauty. Then the fog rolled in and I was blown away. This piece is from the series called “Abandoning time.”
