There are nearly 5 billion people around the world who are struggling; it is the struggle inside their minds in pursuit of peace and tranquility. Among them are non-believers or atheists, and those who believe in human god or gods, or everything is god. Others, or the known vast majority, believe in the complex theory of love, sacrifice, original sin, and god in three. They search tranquility by leading a life as they want to lead, neglecting the given laws by the true Almighty.

On contrary, Muslims have a peaceful life because of their true submission to the wills to Allah, who is One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. And there is none co-equal, or comparable unto Him. [Quran 112:1-4]

This photograph of a Muslim woman, her proper covering, according to the laws, not only gives the sense of submissiveness, but you can also sense the tranquility in her eyes.

A Muslim woman, has more rights than any others. They are the most valuable being in a society, because not only they have the quality of mother hood, but also they seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT), and act as His trustee on this world, and do not try to gain fame or satisfy one’s own ego.

One who does not cover herself properly, actually saying others, “look at me – I am absolute disobedient to Allah.” The laws for covering a woman’s body is clearly mentioned in the last and the final revelation Quran “as order” in chapter 24:31, and its “benefit” in chapter 33. – “Let them cast their outer garments over their bodies. That is best in order that they be known and not harmed.” [Quran 33:59]

A true Muslim woman is also aware of the trap of western norms of clothing. Some might call it “Women’s Liberation,” which is more often a disguised form of exploitation of her body, deprivation of her honor and degradation of her soul.

This photograph is for honoring those who become submissive for a life in tranquility, and peace in their soul. Photograph was taken with her permission in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

This shot was taken at Kuala Lumpur International Airport [KLIA] after their return from Haj, the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. For a Muslim Hajj is one of the essential pillars of Islam for those that can afford it. It is a demonstration of submission to Allah. This photograph represents calmness in their heart, in their activities, as they have successfully completed one of the hardest task of their life along with 3 million people. To know its origin, and its responsibilities, one can read the verses from Quran in Chapter 22, Hajj, verses 26-29.

26. And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], “Do not associate anything with Me (Allah) and purify My House(Ka’bah) for those who perform tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate.

27. And proclaim to the people the hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass –
28. That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor.
29. Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform tawaf around the ancient House.

In the photograph the world “Allah” is written in Arabic. Muslims prefer calling the Supreme Creator, Allah, instead of ‘God’ in English. The Arabic word, ‘Allah’, is pure and unique. One can find the most concise definition of Allah (SWT) in the glorious Quran in chapter 112.
“Say: He is Allah,
The One and Only.
“Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
“He begets not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.”

Since the attributes of Allah given in this chapter are unique, false gods and pretenders to divinity can be easily dismissed using these verses. Despite the true divine message, there are people who believe in the absurdity of the philosophy of anthropomorphism. Is it not an insult to human intelligence and to the Creator who gave us this intelligence? Such people are truly ‘deaf’ and ‘blind’ despite the faculty of hearing and sight given to them by Allah. The Qur’an says: “Deaf, dumb, and blind, They will not return (to the path).” [Al-Qur'an 2:18]. They need to understand, Allah (SWT) need not come down personally for giving the instruction manual. He chooses a man amongst men to deliver the message and communicates with him at a higher level through the medium of revelations. Such chosen men are called messengers, and prophets of God, not the son of God, or gods in different form.

Sahadah ( الشهادة aš-šahādah ) is the 1st pillar of Islam. It is the declaration from a Muslim of his/her belief. A belief in accepting that there is no deity except Allah (SWT) and Muhammad (PBUH) is the prophet of Allah. In the Photograph, the text in Arabic declares the entering of a life where one totally submits his/her wills to Allah.

However one must know that the sign of crescent moon and star are not representing Islam. Though there are some countries who used these sign in their flag and Masjid to influenced peoples wrong belief, but a Muslim must know Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) never used these signs in his lifetime. Instead of using those pagan signs, a Muslim must understand the true meaning of Sahadah, because in the life of this world we need reminders that can truly remind us, so that we are not swayed away from the straight path. It is Islam which can only guide to that straight path, and reminds us five times a day. Islam is the complete way of life, where a Muslim, remembering the purpose of life in their every step, remembering good things they learn, the people around them, the world, the alternation of the night and the day, and every creation between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reasoning.

A Muslim also must know, it wasn’t until the Ottoman Empire that the crescent moon and star became affiliated with the Muslim world. When the Turks conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1453, they adopted the city’s existing flag and symbol. The faith of Islam has historically had no symbol, and these crescent moon and star are essentially an ancient pagan icon.

The month of Ramadan is that, in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the mankind and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever witness this month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and wants for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that, to which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. (Quran: Chapter 2, Verse 185)

He graduated in Computer Science from North South University and currently working at a renowned advertising agency in creative section as a Creative Supervisor. He has been doing photography since school but doing it with a professional SLR since 2002 when he came to get his Nikon N75 camera from his father.

He believes that there are no rules when it comes to photography. Yet, there is no question that certain images create distinct impact while others create zilch. Certain images are cherished by the subjects we photograph, and others rapidly make their way to the circular file. So he tries to endeavor to present his takes on what he believes. Simplicity is his own theme.

I stumbled on these mannequins while walking around in a shopping mall. The look of these mannequins was a surreal resemblance to human beings perhaps because they were dressed with headscarf. The shop dressed up the mannequins with the headscarf to promote and display the headscarf it was selling. Malaysia is a Muslim country and majority of the Muslim ladies wear headscarf as an act of obedience to Allah.
