The photo is part of my project “.In Transit” which focuses on Singapore intertwined landscape. In such a small island, nature scenes have been combined with the modern cityscape in order to maintain the balance. There is no magnificent mountains, lakes or long beaches as ones often admire, but rather the intertwined land-scape of Singapore and the different races makes it so intrigued. Completed in 2012, the project can be viewed online at https://analox.jux.com/674710, pay it a visit, will you?

Minh Nghia Le and his wife Mai Phuong Duong are two Singapore-based photographers. Photography has nothing to do with their daily job but it has become their passion for years. His main interests currently are street photography and portraiture, which certainly have influences on his other work in travel and wedding photography. His favourite quote is: “Well, I don’t believe in photography as an art or a job or anything. I think of photography as a language and I think a language should be used to speak, to say what you have to say. So, the only things I have to say about my life and what I know about the world, is the way I see it.” – from Antoine d’Agata”

Since Daniel Schnyder was a kid, he liked to observe the lives on this planet, especially human activities. He believed the people are pilgrims in this world, and his great pleasure was to discover- to get in touch. Daniel is from Switzerland. He is married and blessed with a son. He is currently working as a polymechanician. Photography came to him as a way of curiosity to know how light captures the moment on the sensitive layer of a film. His first roll was Kodacolor, and when he developed it he was astonished. No image! Later he got opportunity to work with a Swiss French newspaper, but practicing press photography become too depressing for him because the majority of the events to cover were tragic. Traveling abroad gave him a new turn, travel became his best school of life, gives him the pleasure of moment, to share and reveal light.

Nirupam Roy is a school teacher by profession. His story of coming to the world of photography is quite fascinating. In one summer he planned a family trip to Orrisa, India. There he realized the necessity of a camera to capture the scenic beauty of the place surrounded by several sea-coasts. At the same time he wanted to photograph his family, especially his son Arkapravo, and bought his first camera Canon SX 40 HS. After returning home, he has fallen in love with photography passionately. Photography completely changes his whole attitude towards nature and human being. It gives him a sort of peace to his weary mind, as if a blessings from Almighty.

The uncomfortable 2-hour camel ride across undulating golden sands and never-ending horizons reveals secrets of what the Western Sahara wishes to relinquish. Merzouga our destination, hosts hard sleeping mats in Bedouin tents, which leak. But, it only rains twice a year in the Sahara, right? The photograph is taken at the Ekushey Book Fair of 2013, the month long festival of February where Bangladesh celebrates its Mother Language Movement of 1952, inspired by which the International Mother Language Day is observed all over the world. Here two of the greatest Bengalee poet’s words are written in golden letter. The upper lyric says, “Tell your mind, good or bad apart, accept the truth with ease”. It’s by Rabindranath Tagore, the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. The second one is by Fakhir Lalon Shah, the Baul Saint of Bengal. Truly they are GOLDEN WORDS. These, like prayers, have inspired Bangladesh in times of crisis and cry.

The world of photography really got him going when he moved on to a relatively higher end digital camera in the form of Canon S5 IS which he had used for around 2 years, trying to learn the magic of shutter and aperture until the real journey began with a Rebel T1i in May 2010. Fascinated by the magic of being behind the lens keeps amazing him every day. He wishes this journey never ends.

In a way, they have guided me and my family to become better. The unclear figures reflects who they are now as they are still learning their ways.
