This is the view of the road from a hotel in Melbourne. I stayed there for a week and watched this space almost everyday. This specific day, there were just enough cars and that one person walking through the right spot on the road. This photograph was shot at Market Street in Melbourne.

During my first visit to Varanasi due to a heavy rain I got struck in my hotel. The ghats of Varanasi which are generally full color and people were empty and I wanted to capture the mood of the place.

This photograph was taken on my way to Fuvahmulah Island. The Photograph represents the whole Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives. It’s showing the island formation like chains. This is one of my most favorites, and very first aerial photographs from Maldives.

Jon Rendell was born into an auteur/photog family in Melbourne, Australia in 1957; his grandfather owned a Paillard Bolex 16mm movie camera in the 50s and his father always had his Braun 35mm loaded with Kodachrome 25. At age 8 his parents gave him their old Kodak Box Brownie. He paparazzied birthday parties, friends at school, and their vacations. At high school he learned basic darkroom techniques and decided he had to have his own darkroom. His family knew that on certain evenings the kitchen (his makeshift darkroom) was out of bounds. In the 70s he had the sublime pleasure of being tutored by renowned photographer Athol Shmith. he was always captivated by shadows. It was Athol who one day selected one of his negatives as an example of perfect exposure and development. He cringed because his ever-present cigarette was dangling dangerously close to the negative as he held it aloft to the class. That photo depicted a structure with an unusually shaped shadow across its facade. To this day he cannot tell anyone what made that shadow, but from that day forward he found himself hard-wired to focusing upon the transitory, abstract shapes that come and go with the available light.

Near Kramatorsk (Donetsk, Ukraine) is a wonderful natural sights: a regional landscape park “Kramatorsk”. Its area is very large, but are noteworthy chalk cliffs in the village Belokuzminovka that against the background of forest-steppe landscape look particularly fascinating. The white chalk cliffs that rise above the steppe, were formed in the era of the Mesozoic period of unconsolidated marine sediments of an ancient sea. Denudation of the Cretaceous rock rises to a height of more than 25 meters. On the eastern outskirts of the mountain is worth baring sword. Age Chalk Mountain – 90 million years. At the foot of the mountain are many other smaller rocks, potholes, large and small caves. Shepherds there often graze cows. One evening in 2006, I managed to take just such a picture.
