I was part of an adventure group going towards Nafakhum, one of the many beautiful waterfalls situated in Bandarban, Bangladesh. Due to heavy current, we had to leave the boat and walk by the shores quite a few times. During one of those times, three of the most adventurous among us Ratul, Apu, and Ifty couldn’t resist the appeal to take a dip in the river even with the risk of being washed away by the current. The thrill of adventure always beats the risks of it. And you know when you are young, you are always searching for such thrills and risks, because it is this that gives the soul a complete sense of liberation.

Riasat Rakin started photography around the end of 2010. From then it had been a wonderful journey for him. Landscapes and lifestyles are his favorite types of photography. The beauty of Bangladesh and the versatile lifestyle of the people always inspire him to take his camera out and capture its moments.
Photographer: Nilla Palmer (Brisbane, Australia)
Nilla Palmer’s natural desire to travel and photograph many parts of the world started 27 years ago, although her photography addiction started with her first 110mm film camera as a child. This eventually progressed to 35mm cameras as a teenager and a photography course, which also taught B&W darkroom techniques. Later, more study in Communications Design and Multimedia increased her desire to experiment further with composition and light.
Nilla’s intent is to reveal a story through her images for an audience, which she hopes inspires and encourages people to visit far off lands. Without a strict genre that she adheres to, Nilla captures whatever strikes her at a precise moment. Although her work includes a variety of themes, capturing the essence of a candid moment is her passion; an unguarded second in a frozen in time. She invites everyone to enjoy her gallery and feel free to contact her with any comments.
The Harding Ice Field trail can be hiked within a day (7 hours) and the trail leads along Exit Glacier to the so-called Harding Ice Field near Seward, Alaska, in the Kenai Fjords National Park. The hike is quite strenuous, but the views over the huge ice field are awarding. Additionally, there is a great chance to see black bears, marmots and mountain goat along the way. The weather was unusually fine and it was definitely worth it, carrying the camera all the way to the top.

Photographer: Karin Eibenberger ( Waidhofen, Austria / Baltimore, MD, USA )
Karin Eibenberger (28) was born and raised in Waidhofen/Ybbs, Lower Austria. She has a Master’s Degree in Scandinavian and German literature and worked as freelance translator, tour and exhibition guide before she started her second career as Biomedical Engineer. Karin currently lives in Baltimore, US, where she works as research associate and Master Student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

In her private life, she married and has countless hobbies ranging from motorcycling over photography to trekking and backpacking, mountainbiking, traveling, kayaking, and – quite new – climbing. She rather prefers carrying a 30 kg heavy backpack through Alaska than leaving the camera behind. Photography has always been an integral part of her life and for Karin it’s a way to communicate and to show others how beautiful the world is outside their living rooms. With photography, one can address emotions and feelings directly, giving this medium a lot of potential power.

I took this photograph of my friend Romain Martin as we hiked into the Cochamó Valley in southern Chile. No car has ever penetrated this valley, no road has ever been built and the forests have never been felled. The pure sapphire Cochamó river is flanked on all sides by thousands of metres of hulking granite mountains and ancient forests (gigantic patagonian cypress up to 4000 years old dominate the valley walls) it is a paradise for climbers, hikers and horseman alike

Photographer: Ronnie Glover (Gig Harbor, WA, USA)
Photography took a backseat while Ronnie obtained his college degree. After graduation, he purchased his first camera but was unable to produce the images that he saw in his mind. He then took a few continuing education class to learn the technical aspects of the camera and realized there was so much more to learn about photography. So Ronnie enrolled in the professional program at Southeastern Center for the Arts in Atlanta. The school was operated by Jeanne & Neil Chaput de Saintonge, who currently operate Rocky Mountain School of Photography. He spent 14 years living in Alaska and this gave him unbelievable opportunities to experience nature and capture many images. Ronnie also enjoy travel photography and the experience of different cultures. It is his wish that his images will expose others to the beauty of nature and other cultures. He invites everyone to enjoy his gallery and feel free to contact him with any comments.

I took this self portrait panorama of myself hiking in one of Australia’s most amazing national parks, Wilsons Promontory. It simply can’t be beaten for the amount of phenomenal beaches in what is a relatively small area occupying the southernmost tip of mainland Australia. What makes it even more awesome is that many of those beaches can only be accessed by hiking a minimum of 10km, which generally means the crowds stay away. Those hikes also take you through some stunning mountainous terrain with spectacular views of cliffs, bays, beaches, offshore islands, dense forests and omnipresent gigantic granite boulders. Each time I go there I’m blown away and this visit was no exception.

I took this photograph while on a 5-day horse trek in Australia’s mountainous south-east. Our route followed old gold mining and cattle grazing trails through some of the state of Victoria’s most spectacular alpine landscapes. We rode through densely forested mountain valleys, up steep ridgelines, across wide open highplains and made a traverse of Mount Bogong, Victoria’s tallest mountain.

I captured this image while shooting the 2010 Thredbo Big Air Competition at Thredbo Ski Resort in Australia. The snowboarders and skiers hurled themselves off a 50ft jump trying to pull off their maddest tricks for a panel of judges perched atop the cabin of a snow groomer. For my untrained eye the aerialists were pretty amazing and I had heaps of fun shooting a subject that I had little experience with. The rider pictured is Jordan Houghtan.
